Le Grand Fougueyrat is a converted 18th Century Barn set in 40 acres of beautiful countryside in the Dordogne region of France. We have 10 ensuite double bedrooms and provide a host of activities including Clay Pigeon Shooting, Canoeing, Boules, Skittles, not to mention Quiz nights and an after dinner sing song! Accomodation is 'All Inclusive' of copious amounts of food, wine, beers and activities, should you wish to partake. However, if you prefer to relax around our 19 metre figure of 8 swimming pool with a cold glass of wine or beer, that's fine too! Anyone concerned about the 'sporting' activities should bear in mind that although we do get the occasional Sue Barker lookalike, Ronnie Barker lookalikes are more common. We have two weeks each year where families with children are welcome, at all other times we operate a 'kids free zone' in the selfish pursuit of peace & pleasure for us older kids. Our weeks run from Tuesday to Tuesday to accomodate cheaper air fares into Bergerac, just 15 minutes away, and a free transfer service is provided on request. In close proximity to the market towns of Eymet (market day Thursdays) and Issigeac (market day Sundays). To the west, heading towards Bordeaux, is the reknowned wine producing region and town of St. Emillion. To the north of us, lies Perigeux and the idyllically situated town of Brantom. Most weeks, weather permitting, we canoe down the beautiful Dordogne, and picnic alongside the river, opposite the picturesque village of Roque Gageac. From here, we will be in striking distance of the historic towns of Beynac, Dome and Sarlat. Also, we are a short drive away from the famous pre-historic caves of Lascaux.
